The EDHEC MBA is an intensive ten-month generalist programme and a highly intensive learning experience. Aside the every-day class work, non-contact hours are filled with group projects, individual work, reading assignments and general course preparation.
It takes discipline and commitment to complete demanding projects under pressure but the EDHEC MBA learning style also asks participants to share past experiences so that they learn from each other. Because of the intensity of the learning experience, much attention has been paid to the manner in which the classes are offered to the students. One professor even likened it to asking for knowledge and having it turned on you with a fire hose...
The fundemantal courses in the EDHEC MBA are structured in integrated modules, giving a coherent progression toward building a substantial body of knowledge useful to graduates throughout their careers. The curriculum is continuously evolving to take advantage of changes in theory and to bring new faculty aboard from the world's leading universities.
Module One: The Sense-making Process; Business Complexity and Strategy; Getting Ready for the Real World; Practical Decision Making.
Module Two: Managing and Leading People; Data Analysis; Accounting.
Module Three: Marketing; Finance; Organizational Theory; Macro Economics.
Module Four: Micro Economics; Advanced Finance; Industry Competition and Analysis.
Module Five: Leadership; Management of Information Systems; Project Management.
Module Six: Innovation; Entrepreneurship.
In addition to the classes offered in the module format, other classes are taught in what are called knowledge streams, which link courses together in such a way as to continue building upon each other: Cultural Marketing, International Mergers and Acquisitions, Managing the Internationalization of the Firm, International Business Law, Intellectual Property Law, International Corporate Finance, Criminal Risk Management, EU Competition Law, Risk Management in International Contracts, Actionable Knowledge and Philosophy
As a result, as students move from class to class in succession they are immediately putting new knowledge to work, linking Data Analysis to Marketing, or Marco Economics to Managing Information Systems. Becoming holistic in approaching management challenges is an essential skill in today's dynamic and rapidly changing business environment.
Managers are likely to work in several different industries over their careers and being able to connect the big picture to tiny details across disciplines is a task in which too few managers are adept. The EDHEC MBA programme aims to produce graduates who will be successful no matter which industry, or which role, they find themselves in.
