Aide EDHEC is a humanitarian student association on EDHEC's Nice campus, helping among other gestures, to raise money to help underprivileged children from Nice go on vacation.
The general objective of the association is to achieve the sensitization of people towards international solidarity and the respect of the environment. More particularly the association finances and helps other associations organize events.
It also plays an important pedagogic role for underprivileged children of the local community, in that four times a week, EDHEC students volunteer to help them with after-school help such as school work and offering advice. They even take these children on outings to cinemas, museums and sports events etc. In addition, once a year the association organizes and finances vacations for these children who would not normally have the opportunity to go to holiday due to financial situation of their parents.
Last year, thanks to Aide EDHEC 38 children, aged between 7 an 12 years old, had four days of vacation. For most of them it was a unique experience, spending a moment away from their parents for the first time in their lives. This year the association is raising money to take children on a 5 day trip to Corsica in April. Student-volunteers will accompany them and help them discover the natural beauty of the island that is situated between France and Italy. They will also advise children on subjects such as healthy eating habits and good community behaviour.
