Fidelity, one of the world's largest diversified financial services companies, visited the EDHEC Nice Campus searching for high quality students that have the potential to become its future white-collars.
Fidelity was created in 1946 in New England (U.S.). Today it is a world leader in the field of asset management, notably on the European level where it is the first company as regards value of assets. Fidelity is a specialist in the management of equity funds with more than 200 million euros of assets. Even though today Fidelity acts at an international level (notably thanks to Fidelity International) it is still a family-run company, the major shareholders being the children of its creator.
The international division of the company has offices in 20 countries with 4000 employees. Among them, there are 181 portfolio managers and more than 300 equity analysts. Stephan De Quelen, sales director of Fidelity presented to EDHEC's MSc students the company and the positions his company can offer to high level graduates of the top European business schools.
Mr. De Quelen informed students that although people who think about asset management tend to consider only jobs such as portfolio manager or financial analyst, there are in fact many more opportunities available. There are hundreds of career paths in Finance, Marketing and Sales that take talented professionals virtually anywhere they want to go.
The European centre for Fidelity International is in London where the majority of its employees work. Among them there are current EDHEC students and alumni that either have permanent positions or are doing a long-term internship. According to Mr. De Quelen, EDHEC has a very positive image in the London market, thanks to its graduates, and also thanks to its active involvement in hedge funds and Risk and Asset management research. Fidelity wanted to come to the Nice campus particularly because it knows that EDHEC Business School and its MSc programmes can provide it with the employees it needs.
The Fidelity Recruiting Event is one of the many events organized by EDHEC's career centre. Many other international companies have already visited the two EDHEC campuses (Nice and Lille) this year, such as Shell and Unilever.
